The honey harvest begins

The clear boards have gone on, these boards make the bees go down to the brood chamber so that we can remove the honey crop from the supers (the supers are the boxes that contain the honey).

AboveĀ  shows a clearer board before it goes on the hive and in the background you can see the hives full with honey.

The plastic above, has holes in it to let the bees go down, but not allow the bees back up so that they stay in the Brood chamber (The bottom of the hive) so that we can take the supers off to extract the honey.

Above shows the little holes that the bees crawl through so that the stay below the supers, the supers are the boxes that contain the honey.
